Anne's Story: End-of-Life Planning & Healthcare Decisions

Anne’s Story

Anne’s Interview With Carol Kent

I was honored to be interviewed by Carol Kent at the 2015 Speak Up Conference.”

My Bio

I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA in Economics. Early in my career, I worked for Arthur Andersen & Company, Honeywell, The Pillsbury Company, and BlueCross BlueShield of MN. I climbed the ranks from programmer to systems analyst to project manager and eventually to a director level position.

In 1995, I left the corporate world to become an independent business consultant in the healthcare industry. My consulting typically focused on solving a business problem by designing an effective workflow and applying the right technologies. My clients included both payers and providers in the Twin Cities area, including Allina, Medica, BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota, UnitedHealth, Fairview, Definity, UCare and Carol Corp.

In 2010, God tapped me on the shoulder and whispered a message in my heart:  “Help people get past their fear of death. Help them be prepared for the decisions so they can experience peace through the journey.” This has become my mission.

I left my consulting behind at the beginning of 2011 to launch a start-up. Using my business and technology skills, I designed a web-based healthcare directive tool that I licensed to Allina Health, one of Minnesota’s largest healthcare delivery systems. My book came next. Then, I began being invited to speak about healthcare directives. I love sharing this message. I strive to touch the hearts of  all who hear my presentation.

Most recently, I have created and launched an online course called Healthcare Choices from the Heart. The course uses video content and fillable PDFs to guide participants to write and communicate a meaningful healthcare directive.

In addition to my work with end-of-life planning, I have produced two music CD’s and a music video about Mom’s journey with Alzheimer’s disease.
